The days of a "Country Farm" have long since been replaced by huge Factory Farms. Sadly the treatment of pigs has de-evolved into horrific abuse, so much so that Farms are seeking to ban videoing taping by those attempting end such cruelty. Mama pigs are forced to live out their sad lives in "gestation cases where they can't move.
Aside from the poor means in which pigs are treated, Bacon just isn't healthy. See following,........"A 2007 study by Columbia University suggests a link between eating cured meats (such as bacon) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The preservative sodium nitrite is the probable cause. Bacon is usually high in salt and saturated fat; excessive consumption of both is related to a variety of health problems.
Researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health found in 2010 that eating processed meats such as bacon, preserved by smoking, curing or salting, or with the addition of chemical preservatives, was associated with an increased risk of both heart disease and diabetes. The same association was not found for unprocessed meat."

I would like to commend the excellent service and programs offered at the Library. Job well done!!!!! The extra effort and commitment to serving the public is most appreciated. Much thanks. View Comment
"Yes I was offered a meeting but "one on one meetings" done in the privacy of someone's office". Thank you Mr. Samis. While your integrity has gone by the wayside, I'm glade to see your memory is intact. As someone who as wrote my share of letters, I can see going public after all attempts to resolve a situation have been refused. But the Red Carpet was rolled out for you to have a civil discussion. So your motivation is clear... public spectacle, half truths, and gossip. All regarding a Department you haven't once stepped in or ever participated. Your pubic service is confined to the following 1- Attacks at Town Board Meetings. 2- Attacks on Internet websites.
At best.....quite a limited resume by anyone's standard. View Comment
Sound familiar Mr. Samis? .....Cognictive "Dissonance is aroused when people are confronted with information that is inconsistent with their beliefs. If the dissonance is not reduced by changing one's belief, the dissonance can result in restoring consonance through misperception, rejection or refutation of the information, seeking support from others who share the beliefs, and attempting to persuade others"
Once again.... the overnight trips are NOT funded by taxpayer dollars. Repeat after me, "the overnight trips are NOT funded by taxpayer dollars. View Comment
As predicted.. Hal is doing the "Hal" thing. the same thing he does at Town Board meetings... being long winded but of course ignoring facts and making unjustifiable implementations. Let's cut to the chase... why haven't you been at the Community Center? Something about the population you don't like? It's plain to see your agenda is one of attack for attack sake. The act has grown quite thin and re-run more times than "I Love Lucy". The Community Center could invent immorality but then you would complain that we were putting Funeral Directors out of Business. If you are really interested in serving the public interest, volunteer your time somewhere.... perhaps the place the never set foot in.....the Theodore D. Young Community Center. In the meantime please accept my gift to you , which is a bigger gift to those attending Greenburgh Town Board Meetings, two free, or as you say "freebies", tickets to the "Jerry Springer" show. You will fit right in. Enjoy. Stay tuned for another looooong winded, but "Shallow Hal response. Great for those having trouble sleeping. View Comment
Hal Samis... for those with not so short memories attends every Town Board meeting and does what he does best... attack and accuse. While Hal may be good with numbers....it's quite apparent he doesn't know much about cruises. Upon seeing the Cruise User fees, he checked out the Cruiseline web-site. Ah Ha!!!! See? The prices listed are much less than the user fees. I gotcha now! But not sooooo fast Hal. The list prices don't include port charges and taxes. This was our conversation. In typical Hal Samis fashion, no facts should ever get in the way of any opportunity to destroy the efforts of others. Mr. Samis was offered a meeting to address any concerns about the Cruise. he refused. Has Hal ever attended a Community Center trip? No. Has Hal ever asked anyone who attended a Community Center outing about how much they enjoyed the trip? No. Does Hal mention that all sleep over trips are paid for by user fees? There is no cost to taxpayers. none. In fact has Hal ever walked though the doors of the Community Center? Again... No. Listen, Hal if your up for a civil discussion, perhaps try something new... come to the Center. There are many activities you just may enjoy. View Comment
A special Thank You to the Administrators of Scarsdale. You have taken a leadership position for other municipalities to follow....your Humane solution is most welcomed and appreciated. We need others... such as Westchester County which has grossed disappointed people world wide to follow your outstanding example. View Comment
My post on Celebration Webpage,"Thank you for your service. I'm disappointed that the public is only hearing of this end of a Peekskill tradition at the point as you say, no return. With much respect, the event is 7 months away and I find it hard to believe that an attempt to continue is off the table, but perhaps not off the table with Peekskill City Hall. The Council has publicly stated their willingness to meet this week. With that said.. is it true that it is the event Board who is unwilling to explore new possibilities? The public deserves clarification before you "pull the plug". Thank you in advance for your anticipated response." View Comment

In contrast to Hal's rather long winded narrative, the case for the Bubble is very simple. It's Track Record. Greenburgh has purchased a new Town Town Hall for a bargain price. has expanded the TDY Community Center, and has built a new Library. None of these buildings have ever had any safety problems.... not one. No near misses. So why all this concern now? It's time to question the motives and agenda of those objecting to an endeavor which can only benefit Greenburgh residents. View Comment
A Chevy Volt accident can't in no way destroy a 50 mile radius of the most populated area in Country. Indian Point inflicts the highest risk for the Tri-State area imaginable. View Comment
Anyone with even the slightest medical need must stay as far away from Westchester Medical Center as possible. Too too many layoffs! Imagine the hell it is be for the harding working staff never knowing if they will be next? Add to the fact that the layoffs happened with short notice and only a suggestion of replying with a huge cut in pay? No! This needs to be re-started with a entirely new management team. Until then if you value your health, avoid at all costs.PRESS RE-START. View Comment

Thank you Posters! Your Name calling, arguments without facts, and brainwashing from Fox News further validates my above comments about GOP-Cons being uninformed. Thank you Thank you. View Comment

Choose one for your tax dollars;
A) Programs like unemployment, social security, and Medicare.
B) Trillions of dollars spent on Wars based on lies about WMD.
It is so much easier to attack seniors, disabled vets , and children than these cooperate welfare giants making windfall profits on the backs of Americans Taxpayers. View Comment
If the goal is the well being of the American people, then answer the following; If Romney wins and somehow "rips out "Obamacare by it's roots"
Will Americans die as a result?
If the goal is interety via financial transparency, then answer the following; Are Americans better served by Romney hiding his Tax Returns?
Is it purely Right Wing Propaganda when Harry Reid is attacked for calling out Romney on his refusal to release his Tax Returns?
No filler No by products. View Comment
Opposition to the Affordable Health Care Act is Strictly Political
It's amazing how effective the GOP has been in creating propaganda which is more than disinformation , but amounts to out and out lies about what they call "Obamacare". Mitt Romney has instituted a nearly identical plan for Massachusetts with much success. He, if no one else should be the Act's biggest supporter. However can one really imagine GOP members who support the AHC coming "out" in favor of it? No!!! Their Party members would banish them!!!! There is the real problem. Examine the facts. An additional 30 million Americans.will now have .Health Insurance. Insurance companies can't refuse sick person coverage. Insurance companies can't drop you if you become sick. An estimated 2% of citizens will have to paid up to $700.These provisions will save lives. So who would be against such changes? The uniformed. Worst still... the Politicos who put their GOP Party Agenda over the well being of the American People. View Comment
