Storms Could Bring Hail, Gusty Winds, Heavy Rain To Somers

The high heat and humidity may soon give way to a round of heavy thunderstorms Friday afternoon and evening.

Some of the storms could produce small hail, gusty winds, and heavy rain. The chance of rain is 40 percent.

There is an Air Quality Alert until 11 p.m. Friday, which means that ozone levels within the region may exceed the safe standards for people suffering from asthma or heart disease, as well as other health ailments, according to the National Weather Service.

The storm chance continues through 2 a.m. Saturday. 

Overnight lows should drop to around 70 degrees. The chance of rain is 50 percent.

The outlook for Saturday calls for patchy fog before 8 a.m. The sun will then break through and the high will once again be in the low 90s.

Sunday will be sunny with a high near 90.
