SOMERS, N.Y. -- Youth events for October at the Somers Library are highlighted by Teens & Tweens Intro to Yoga & Mindfulness.
The program will be from 5-6 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 1, 8 and 15. Participants should bring a yoga mat or a large beach towel to class, which is geared toward teens and tweens in fifth grade and up.
Participants will learn to slow down and increase awareness both externally and internally, to use breath to find calm during times of challenge, to feel energetic through grounding, strengthening and balancing and to relax and restore both body and mind.

Other events for youths include:
- Pokemon Battle Party: Saturday, Oct. 10. Two sessions: younger group (grades 2-4), 12:30-1:30 p.m.; and older group (grades 5 and Up), 1:30-2:45 p.m. This is a friendly competition to battle Pokemon using 3DS or DS. Bring your cards as well to show and battle independently. Because of the high demand for this type of program for younger Pokemon fans, the Teen Advisory Group has offered to hold a battle specifically for kids grades 2-4. Registration is required. - Teen Power Painting: Monday, Oct. 26, from 3:30-5 p.m. Participants will create a unique project by using their creative energies to paint unique and eye-catching designs. Participants will mix colors and create different effects for their take home project. Instruction includes techniques for mixing color and basic color theory. This program is for teens and tweens in sixth grade and up. Space is limited. Register online or call the library at 914-232-5717.
