'Magic: The Gathering' Club Tops Somers Library Events For Teens/Tweens

SOMERS, N.Y. -- The Somers Library is offering several programs that will keep teens and tweens busy this coming winter and spring.

The Somers Library will be offering plenty to keep local youngsters busy this winter and spring. Among the programs the library is offering are: a book and games club for middle-schoolers, an anime club, and an advisory club for civic-minded teens.

They are:

  • "Magic: The Gathering" Club: 2-4 p.m. Saturdays starting Jan. 2 and running through June 11. (No meeting May 28). Middle and high school students can bring their own cards, or borrow a deck from the library. Beginners and new members welcome.
  • Anime Club: 3:15 p.m. - 4:15 p.m. other Wednesday from Jan. 6 through June. Intended for teens and tweens in grades 7 and up. Registration is required
  • Teen Advisory Group (TAG): 3:15 - 4:30 p.m. every other Monday Jan. 11 until June 6. Teens and tweens who want to make an impact on their library and their community can earn volunteer hours. Registration is required.
  • Middle School Books & Games Club: 3:15 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. every other Tuesday starting Jan. 19. (No meeting Feb. 16). Middle school students can discuss favorite books and authors and play games. Registration is required.
  • High School Gaming Club: 2:45 p.m. – 4:15 p.m. Fridays on the following dates: Jan. 29, Feb. 12, Feb. 26, March 18, April 8, May 6, May 20, and June 3. Teens can play video games, board games and more.
  • Anime Nights: 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. one Friday a month on the following dates: Jan. 29, Feb. 26, March 18, April 8, May 6, and June 3. Teens in the 7th grade and up can watch anime from Crunchyroll on a big screen in the library’s program room.
