SOMERS, N.Y. – A seed-saving talk is planned for 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 27, in the Program Room at the Somers Library.
The program will feature a two-hour PowerPoint presentation about seeds and the importance of seed- saving.
The different types of seeds, such as heirlooms, hybrids and open-pollinated varieties, will be addressed. The best techniques for saving seeds to produce cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes and other popular garden items will also be discussed.
Each attendee will be given a packet of seeds from items the instructor grew in a home garden.
