The public is invited to attend the start of the Second Annual Somers Sustainability Series at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Somers Public Library in Reis Park. The event, organized by the Somers Energy Environment Committee, allows for residents to learn about and “contribute to the transformation of Somers,” said Herb Oringel, chairman of the Somers Energy Environment Committee in a press release.
Tuesday’s presentation will be about “Complete Streets.” The session will discuss how the committee is “transforming Somers streets/paths, making the streets of Somers easier and safer for biking/walking,” according to a release. The series will continue on June 4 with a presentation on “smart home energy use.” Residents can learn how the group is “implementing a community-based energy efficiency program,” according to the release.
Other sessions on alternative energy and conserving resources through recycling will follow on June 25 and July 9. Those looking for more information are asked to contact Oringel at (914) 277-5370.
