What To Do In Somers This Weekend

Saturday, Dec. 15

Zumba: 9:30 a.m. Party yourself into shape at a Zumba fitness class. It’s only $5 per class and there is no contract commitment. For more information call Donna at 914-523-2893 or go to www.somerscc.org. Classes are at the Somers Community Center, 34 Hillandale Road in Shenorock.

Candy-Cane Run: 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Somers Volunteer Fire Department will be spreading joy around town with candy canes and even, perhaps, a personal appearance by Santa. Listen for the sirens. It starts at the Lincolndale Post Office at 9 a.m. For a complete schedule click here.

Babysitting: 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Learn some of the ins and outs of babysitting. The program is geared to children in the fifth grade and up. Participants must bring pencils, a notebook and a small lunch. Register in advance online at www.somerslibrary.org or call 914-232-5717. The Somers Library is at 82 Primrose St. in Reis Park.

Tea and Tour: 1 to 3 p.m. Muscoot Farm invites you to take a guided tour of the Main House, followed by a formal tea in the living room. Bring a friend or child, 10 years or older. Pre-registration is required. The fee is $15 per person. Call 914-864-7286 to register. Muscoot Farm is on Route 100, 1½ miles south of Route 35, in Somers.

Less Nessmen: 9 p.m. One of the Hudson Valley’s hottest bands will perform with its new lead singer, Jeff Bones. It’s at the Lovell Street Grill and Alehouse, 151 Route 202 (Lovell Street), Lincolndale.

Sunday, Dec. 16

Breakfast with Santa: 8:30 to 11 a.m. Bring the kids to a enjoy a hot buffet breakfast with Santa and share their own good fortune with needy children elsewhere by bringing an unwrapped new toy or gift card. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children. Children under three are free. Artist’s Reception: 1 to 4 p.m. The paintings of Somers resident, Bob Reidy, a professional engineer with an artistic eye for the Croton watershed, will be on exhibit throughout December. The artist will greet visitors on Sunday afternoon. Light refreshments will be served. It’s at the Somers Library, 82 Primrose St. in Reis Park.
