The 65-year-old Mount Kisco native, who was born William Bruce Jenner, recently filed a petition in Los Angeles County Superior Court seeking the change, Entertainment Weekly said.

She also is asking to legally change her gender to female from male, the magazine reported.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Jenner has to provide the court with documents formally declaring the gender change, including any treatments or procedures she may have undergone.

Safety concerns prompted Jenner to ask for a private hearing and for parts of the petition to be sealed, the magazine reported.
