PATTERSON, N.Y. -- A 41-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the larceny of a motor vehicle at the Metro-North Commuter Railroad Patterson Station, Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith said.
A Patterson resident who departed a train on May 6 at approximately 2:30 p.m. discover that her vehicle had been stolen from the station parking lot, the sheriff's office said.
The woman immediately reported the incident to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department.
An investigation revealed the identity of the suspect as Paul H. Andrews, 41, of Route 311 in Patterson, the sheriff's office said.
The woman's vehicle was subsequently recovered at ShopRite Plaza on Route 52 in the Town of Carmel.
Andrews was located by members of the Putnam County Sheriff's Department Bureau of Criminal Investigation, arrested and charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree (a felony) on Tuesday, May 10 at approximately 9 a.m.
Andrews was arraigned before Town of Southeast Justice Richard Vercollone and committed to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,500.00 cash bail or $3,000.00 bond pending a May 23 appearance in the Town of Patterson Justice Court to answer the charge.
If found guilty of the felony charges, Andrews could face up to four years in a New York State Correctional Facility and a fine of up to $5,000.
