Meighan Marie McSherry, a lawyer from New York City, appeared in Stamford court on charges of first-degree robbery and second-degree larceny, police said.

Greenwich Time reported that McSherry is a lawyer who lives on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

In court, her lawyer said McSherry had been in Pound Ridge the night before the bank robbery but had no memories after that or how she ended up in Greenwich, Greenwich Time said.

Just before 3:30 p.m. Thursday, a woman gave the teller at the Wells Fargo Bank at 137 W. Putnam Ave. a note demanding money and stating that she had a gun, police said. She left the bank after receiving cash, police said, however, a description of her and her vehicle were given to police.

Within a few minutes, the suspect's vehicle was spotted on East Putnam Avenue near Church Street, a short distance from the bank, police said.

Officers stopped the vehicle and detained the driver, police said.

Witnesses to the bank robbery subsequently positively identified the driver as the suspect and she was placed under arrest, police said.

Evidence of the crime was found in her vehicle, police said.

McSherry was held on $250,000 bond for her Friday court appearance, police said. Her next court appearance will be Sept. 8.

There were no injuries during this incident, police said.
