Five Candidates Running For Two Seats On Somers School Board

SOMERS, N.Y. -- It will be a crowded field in the Somers school board elections this year.

Five people are running for two open seats on the school board, with elections taking place May 16.

The candidates are incumbent Chadwick Olsen, Jonathan Welsh,  MaryRose Joseph, Lindsay Portnoy and Raina Laredo. 

Residents will also be voting on the 2017-2018 budget. The $88.3 million will increase spending by $1.4 million. Residents will also vote on a $1.7 million ballot proposition to resurface two artificial turf fields and buy new equipment for the high school fitness center. The project would be covered by cash from the reserve fund.
