Somers High's STAT Club Raises More Than $700 With 'World Vision Day'

SOMERS, N.Y. -- In honor of World Vision Day, Somers High School's Students Taking Action Today (STAT) club sold approximately 300 sunglasses and raised more than $700 to go to children in La Carpio in Costa Rica, which is the club's outreach

The glasses bought can dramatically change these children’s lives, encouraging them to stay in school because with them they can read and understand what is happening in class.

Eighty percent of what a child learns in his first 12 years of life is through vision so it is vital for these children to have glasses.
