Somers Galaxy U16 Team Earns Spot In Disney Tournament

SOMERS, N. Y. -- FC Somers Galaxy U16 boys soccer team was invited to play in the highly competitive 2015 Disney Soccer Showcase at the ESPN Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.

Rated the No. 1 youth soccer tournament in the U.S., the Disney Showcase is an opportunity for Galaxy players to be seen by hundreds of college soccer coaches while testing their skills against the top teams in the country. The four-day tournament runs from Dec. 27-30. 

The team is currently ranked fifth in New York State and 58th in the country, according to GotSoccer. Last season, Galaxy made it to the State Cup semifinals and finished second in league play in the Eastern Development Program. 

The Galaxy boys are fundraising for the Disney Showcase with a car wash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Somers Mobil Station on Route 100. Car washes are be $10 each. 

Team members include: Jake Faigle, Ankit Patel, Matthew Sikorski, Jacob Leff, Liam DeLasho, Matthew Togher, Valentin Markaj, Michael Gilmore, Mauricio Arango, Alex Pizza, Kevin Mulholland, Andrew Circle, Gabriel Nieves, Arben Hoxhaj, Sean Beaver, Robert Moon, Kevin Dorf, Joey O’Connor, Nick Estrada, and Coach Toma Gojcevic, Assistant Coach Stephen Togher and Manager Rob Leff.
